He and German rapper Tshawe Baqwa make up the Norwegian hip hop duo Madcon that first rose to fame in the early 2000s with their breakout single "Barcelona" and their debut album It's All a Madcon. They have since released half a dozen successful albums.
Madcon formed in 1992 but didn't release their debut single "God Forgive Me" until 2000.
In 2012, he served as a mentor on the reality competition series The Voice - Norges beste stemme.
His parents are from Ethiopia and Eritrea. He grew up with his mother in a suburb of Oslo.
Blues singer Noora Noor was featured on the Madcon single "Hard To Read" on the 2007 album So Dark the Con of Man.
