Japanese actress who has won several awards for her roles in film and television including a Hochi Film Award and a Kinema Junpo Award for Best Actress.
She started acting in 1979 and had an early role in the NHK television series Sister Ma.
She has also voice acted in the role of Judy for the anime movie Daddy Long Legs.
She married actor Kenji Sawada in 1989.
