ABOUT ZAYDA PEñA ARJONA
Famous for "Tiro de Gracia" and other romantic songs, this popular vocalist was the lead singer of a Mexican folk band called Zayda Y Los Culpables. Her albums with the group include Estoy Enamorada and Coleccion de Oro: La Sentimental.
She released most of her albums with Zayda Y Los Culpables, including the band's debut recording, Sensible, on the Balboa music label.
Tragically, she was murdered in her late twenties by unidentified assassins who, after failing to kill her with their first shots, tracked her down at the hospital where she was taken and fatally shot her there.
After her daughter was killed, Arjona's mother, Blanca Aide Arjona, began working in the legal field.
Jenni Rivera would find her greatest commercial success when she covered Zayda Y Los Culpables' "De Contrabando."
